Note: Thanks to the Department of the Army U.S. Human Resources Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky, I was able to find a little more than just William Lemon's death date, infantry and Serial Number. They gave me 26 original documents from his service records. I only chose to include these three because a lot of the information was redundant, and these included most of the major information that I used as research. The letter is telling William Lemon's father that his son has been interred. There is also a report of his death, and a report of his burial. In fact, as I was reading through these documents, I noticed something that I had missed before. I found that William Lemon actually had a father and a sister. Her name was Laura Margaret Lemon. They both lived in Purcellville Virginia. However I found no record of a mother alive at the time. If I had not had these documents, I'm not sure if I could have given such an accurate account of William Lemon's life. I have found that being a historian is not an easy task. Some people remain mysteries.
